Anderosov Untouchable:

Ray Anderosov is still untouchable in the Western Region Rental Jack FM Stock Car Series as he raced his way to his fifth Feature event victory of 2007 at Western Speedway Saturday night. The race program included the IMS 4 Mini Stock Series and the Old Time Racing Association with a full slate of Trophy Dashes, Heat races, and Main events. If anyone doubts that Trophy Dashes are not competitive, Sean Constantine won the IMS 4 B-Dash by just inches over Rob Chalmers in a drag race down the front stretch. Robert Orr won the IMS 4 A-Dash.
Dave Gill took the win in the Old Timers B-Dash and Dan Curtis won the A-Dash. A little bad blood between Kevin Knight and Jeff Hamstra resulted in DQs for both drivers in the Stock Car B-Dash. After replacing those drivers, Aaron Wilkie took the checkered flag while Marc Parkinson won the A-Dash.
Mitch Egner and Robert Orr won their Heats with the IMS 4 Mini Stock Series, George “the Jet” Jenson and Jesse Dardengo were victorious with the Old Timers Series, and Brandon Carlson, Josh Reaume, and Brian Clutchey were winners in the Stock Car Heats.
Thirty laps would make the distance for the IMS 4 Mini Stock Feature with Alex Mourner and Sean Constantine on the front row. Constantine got the early lead as Orr, Pollard Grant and Parenteau raced clean and hard behind him. On lap 12, Parenteau moved to the outside of Constantine and took over the lead. He started to pull away from the field as Constantine, Pollard Grant, Orr, and Justin Woodske battled for positions trading spots lap by lap. At the checkered flag, it was Parenteau with the win followed by Constantine, and Pollard Grant.
Dano Ryan and Terry Cessford led the field to the green for thirty laps of Main event racing for the Old Timers. It took only four laps for Jesse Dardengo to move from his 7th starting position to the lead while Denis, Rob, and Dan, the Morneau clan, to also move up from deep in the field. Over the next few laps Dardengo worked to a good lead but Rob Morneau moved to the second spot by lap 9, and began to reel in the leader as Dan Morneau took over 3rd on lap 13, and set his sights on Brother Rob. On lap 18, Rob caught Dardengo while Dan caught Rob and the serious racing got serious. These three drivers traded positions racing each other inside and out until a spin by Roger Beck brought out a yellow. On the restart, the trio of Dardengo, Morneau, and Morneau again took up where they left off with wheel to wheel racing. On lap 25, Dan used Beck as a pick and dove to the inside three wide going through turn three and four and come out with the lead as Dardengo made the most of the opportunity to take over the second spot leaving Rob Morneau out in the cold. Dan admitted his car was not as good as Rob’s on this night but a bold move to take over the lead was the key to victory. He also praised the clean racing by the others in this tight battle for the win as Dardengo claimed the second spot while Rob crossed in third.
With the Jerry Ferrie Memorial Trophy up for grabs, Josh Reaume held the pole with Ken Hearn sharing the front row for the start of fifty laps of racing in the Western Region Rental Jack FM Stock Car Series. Reaume led for the first 18 laps before he lost the lead to Ray Anderosov coming from his 13th starting position. When a yellow came out for a spin on lap 17, this put Anderosov, running second at the time, right on the bumper of Reaume. With the drop of the green, Anderosov dove to the inside of Reaume going through turn one coming out with the lead. For the first few laps, Kirk Peacey, Shane Scott, Jess Cesari, and Mike Dibblee battled hard for positions. Well back in the field, Rory Smith, Ryan Wade, and Brian Clutchey were also coming toward the front with Scott moving into second and Smith to 3rd 19 laps down. Wade moved in and tried to take the third spot from Smith on lap thirty but couldn’t get by as Clutchey tried to get by Wade to no avail. Meanwhile up front, Anderosov was still stretching his lead over the rest of the field cruising to the victory. Scott held the second position, Smith, Wade and Clutchey rounded out the top five.

Anderosov, who crashed at Saratoga the previous week, didn’t know how well his car would handle this night but if there was any bugs their were no indications in this event This race marked his fifth Feature event win at Western Speedway in 2007. Kim Ferrie, Jerry’s daughter, was on hand to present the Cup to Anderosov in an emotional presentation at Victory Square.
